POSITION SUMMARY 

The Development Specialist at the CDC, under DEVCOM's leadership, manages individual giving, corporate partnerships, grants, and events. Aligned with CDC's mission, the role executes fund development plans, emphasizing major gifts and corporate support for a robust revenue base. Responsibilities include reporting, impact analysis, policy compliance, and fostering relationships within the team for strategic growth in fundraising and mission activities. 

Reporting to the Manager of DEVCOM, the Development Specialist will bring their strong relationship-building and project management skills to the Development and Communications team. This position will focus on the stewardship, cultivation, and activation of corporate and community partners, and drive strategy to grow revenues supporting Eva's fundraising and mission activities.  

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE OF EMPLOYMENT 

  • Collaborate on the development of the annual Fund Development Plan and budgets. 

  • Develop and review the agency's Corporate Partnership Plan. 

  • Plan and execute annual fundraising events and campaigns. 

  • Act as a consultant and resource for designated fundraising projects. 

  • Liaise with individuals/companies hosting third-party fundraising events. 

  • Create and promote fundraising events through marketing materials. 

  • Design and execute individual and corporate giving campaigns. 

  • Develop and grow the monthly giving program. 

  • Assist in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers for fundraising projects. 

  • Maintain accurate donor records using CRM software. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED: 

  • Completion of a post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Development, Journalism, Communication, etc. 

  • 5+ years’ experience is essential. 

  • Experience in the charitable non-profit sector is also required. 

  • A combination of skill and experience will be considered. 

  • CFRE Certification is strongly preferred. 

SKILLS REQUIRED: 

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Excellent organization and demonstrated experience prioritizing demands from multiple projects. 

  • Intermediate experience in all facets of fundraising with charitable organizations  

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative, and be self-motivated. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.  

As a condition of employment, all staff are required to produce a clear Criminal Record Background check with a Vulnerable Sector search upon hire and every three years thereafter.
