Summary: For many – and this is particularly true within the nonprofit sector – empathy is our first point of meaningful connection to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts. We think back to instances when our clients have faced barriers and biases, or times when people close to us have been excluded, or our own experiences of feeling that we didn’t belong, and these narratives became the fuel for driving the work forward. But what if we’re only scratching the surface? What if we reconsider empathy as an important skill for effective DEI design, development, and implementation? This webinar explores these questions and shows us how different ways of thinking about empathy can help sweeten the sauce, and bring about more impactful DEI.

About the presenter
Christina Sackeyfio is the Founder and Principal Consultant at Boldly Inclusive, a consulting and training firm specializing in diversity, equity and inclusion. She is a 2019 Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional who has spent most of her career working in social impact and innovation in the non-profit sector. In addition to addressing complex social issues such as youth literacy, poverty, homelessness, and child welfare using DEI as a key driver, her specialities include community engagement, strategic partnerships development, and capacity building. Christina earned her MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University, with specializations in Organizational Development and Marketing. She also has a Master of Arts in Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, with a focus on Critical Integrated Anti-Racism Education.
