Provide high-level operations support in a flexible environment at an energetic professional association!
The Canadian Dam Association (CDA) www.cda.ca is seeking a part-time Operations & Finance Manager (OFM) to contribute to fulfilling the CDA’s mission and vision. The OFM will manage day-to-day operations of CDA; serve as Chief Financial Officer and oversee accounting and bookkeeping services; maintain and update policies, procedures and business systems for successful operations; and prepare the Annual Plan (activities and budget).
This role will be of greatest interest to individuals with significant operations experience in either the for-profit or not-for-profit sector who want flexibility in their day-to-day work situation; or to companies providing operational expertise to several clients.
Overview of the CDA
The Canadian Dam Association is a group of owners, operators, regulators, consultants and suppliers interested in dams and reservoirs. CDA generates and disseminates technical knowledge on dams and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and experience in the field of dam safety, public safety and protection of the environment.

Overview of the Position
The primary responsibility of the Operations & Finance Manager is to manage the day-to-day operations. This primarily consists of ensuring business systems, contracts, policies and procedures are in place and adhered to; information technology including the Association Management System meets the association’s needs; and the Annual Plan and budget is created, approved and followed. The Operation & Finance Manage serves as the association’s Chief Financial Officer.

Overview of Contract Terms

The OFM will be expected to provide services for 800-900 hours per year (approximately 0.67 Full-Time Equivalent).

This is a virtual workplace situation; the OFM will be responsible for their own work environment.

The OFM will be required to be somewhat flexible in hours of work and workdays to accommodate the various time zones that CDA members are operating in and the cyclical nature of the CDA’s activities.

This position is based in Canada; applicants/proponents should be residing in and must be eligible to work in Canada (i.e. Canadian citizen, permanent resident, work permit holder; eligible refugee).

The OFM will not be a CDA employee but an independent service provider under contract to CDA, either from a company or as an independent consultant / sole proprietor. The terms of a services contract will be negotiated upon selection of the candidate. The specific terms will depend on many factors including the skills and experience of the individual and the CDA’s association management structure.
The CDA is currently looking to fill several support positions, including this one.
