The Director of Fund Development is responsible for all fundraising initiatives and activities of the organization. The strategic priorities for Fund Development are set in January for each year at our Strategy Summit. Once set, the Director will be responsible for executing the fundraising strategy as it’s related to donations, sponsorship, and funding applications.

Position Overview:

As the Director of Fund Development on our volunteer Board of Directors, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of Imagine Cities. Your contributions will drive fundraising strategies, donor relations, and grant applications, allowing us to continue making a meaningful impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy: Collaborate with the board to develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.

Board Collaboration: Work closely with fellow board members to ensure fund development efforts are integrated into the organization's overall strategic planning.

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of marketing and communication professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

Prospect and Engagement: Identify and engage with potential major donors and corporate partners, tailoring engagement strategies to their interests and philanthropic goals.

Grant Proposals: Guide, support, and lead the team in their efforts to research, write, and submit grant proposals to foundations, government agencies, and other grant-making organizations to secure funding for various programs and initiatives.

Evaluation and Reporting: Provide comprehensive evaluation reports to donors and stakeholders, detailing the impact of their contributions and funding and ensuring transparency in fund utilization.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in fund development and donor relations, with a proven track record of success securing grants.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling grant proposals and donor communications.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders, from individual donors to corporate partners and grant-making organizations.

  • A strategic thinker with a results-oriented approach and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to supervise and motivate volunteers.

  • A commitment to our organization's mission and values.
