Overview:

The Development & Volunteer Manager will play an essential role in advancing the fundraising efforts of the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation. This full-time position offers flexibility and is responsible for managing third-party fundraising, volunteer engagement, assisting with events, and donor engagement. The manager will work closely with the Executive Director to support our strategic goals and other fundraising initiatives that advance the Foundation’s mission. You will work closely with the Foundation's team, donors, volunteers, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and effective communication. With Cowichan’s new hospital under construction, this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to be part of the Cowichan Valley’s biggest project and largest fundraising campaign.

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Engagement:

  • Develop and implement a strategy to recruit, train, and engage volunteers to support events and fundraising activities.

  • Oversee volunteer coordination, providing the necessary resources to volunteers for event participation.

  • Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions to foster long-term involvement.

  • Create new opportunities for volunteers to participate in

Donor Stewardship & Recognition:

  • Assist in managing the donor recognition program, ensuring proper acknowledgment of contributions through naming opportunities, events, and personalized communications.

  • Maintain relationships with donors through timely recognition and thoughtful stewardship initiatives.

Fundraising:

  • Work closely with the team on new fund development initiatives

  • Create new opportunities in our community to assist with elevating donor engagement and funding

  • Assist, plan and execute fundraising for events, including managing third-party fundraising activities to increase community support.

  • Collaborate with third-party event organizers, offering guidance and resources to ensure the success of external fundraising efforts.

Capital Campaign Assistance:

  • Be confident to present to individuals, groups if required on the new hospital project

  • Provide support to the Executive Director in executing the Foundation’s capital campaign, including donor research, cultivation, outreach and stewardship.

  • Foster new relationships in the Community for potential donor opportunities.

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain accurate records in Fundmetrics of all fundraising activities – donor tracking, donor communications, and volunteer involvement.

  • Assist in the drafting of proposals, reports, and other communications to potential donors and stakeholders.

  • Handle additional duties as required to support the overall mission of the Foundation.

Qualifications:

  • Min 5 years’ experience in fundraising, event coordination, and volunteer management, preferably in the nonprofit sector.

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently at times, while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.

  • Familiarity with donor management systems and events

  • Passion for healthcare and commitment to advancing the mission of the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation.

  • Valid BC Drivers License

  • Car required

Position Details:

  • Salary: $70,000 to $80,000

  • Full-Time: In office, occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

  • Location: Cowichan District Hospital Foundation.
