October 28, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm EDT
FreeHello all Albertans!!
Want to join our national Spooky Scary BioBlitz in the company of other volunteers? Then good news! Canadian Council on Invasive Species (CCIS) and and Invasive Species Council BC (ISCBC) are collaborating and will be hosting an in-person event in Calgary Alberta on Saturday October 28th and we would love to see you there! Date: Saturday October 28th Time: 10:00AM–2:00PM MDT Location: Bowness Park Calgary Alberta, 8900 48 Ave NW, Calgary, AB T3B 2B2 Get into the spirit of spooky this October and take part in our Halloween-themed BioBlitz! Grab a nature-inspired costume, equip your phone with iNaturalist and help record biodiversity at a local park. Volunteers will be lead on a nature walk through Bowness Park by Nikki Ballantyne of the CCIS and Alex Mutch of the ISCBC to see how many species we can collectively find and record.
Refreshments will be provided during the BioBlitz, and prizes will be awarded for the best costume and most observations made! If you’d like to sign up, simply reply to this message or send me an email to either Nikki (nicole@canadainvasives.ca) or Alex (amutch@bcinvasives.ca) to let either of them know you’d like to join in. Feel free to bring your friends as this event is open to anyone who would like to participate and you do not need to attend for the entire duration.
Looking forward to hearing back from interested folks!
