Youth Pet Therapy
The National Collaboration for Youth Mental Health has been offering Pet Therapy Services to youth since 2009. We are a youth first mental health and wellness organization in cooperation with Schwartz Pet Therapy and are pleased to provide for youth ages 10 to 30 Pet Therapy every Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm and Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm at our Wellness Centre.
EXTENDED HOME STAYS for Therapy Pets can be arranged as long as the youth has a long term bond with the pets and has a proven record of responsibility and attentiveness with the proposed pets. The rules are the Collaboration visits with the youth and pets every two weeks, and takes the pets to the vet every six weeks or when needed. The pets remain the property of the Collaboration.
In the event of a family emergency, a youth mental health worker will support both the youth and the pet by insuring the pets are fed, walked, and cared for three times a day until the home is stabilized. We believe in supporting, stabilizing and unifying families during crisis. REGISTER at www.ymhconference.ca and on Eventbrite at
