From 2015 to 2019, only 10 of the more than 200 PMBs introduced by Members of Parliament received Royal Assent and became law. Despite this, PMBs remain an avenue for change for elected leaders and environmental advocates hoping to strengthen environmental protection.
Our panelists; Lenore Zann, Lynn Jones & MP Richard Cannings each have experience using private members’ bills for environmental advocacy, from both grassroots and political backgrounds. They will share their diverse perspectives, provide insight into the benefits and challenges of using this tool and offer advice based on their extensive experiences.
This panel is the perfect opportunity to learn more about working with your MPs, how to push for a private members’ bill and hear the ins and out’s of prominent environmental bills like the Environmental Racism bill and Environmental Bill of Rights!
