The Adobe Foundation supports programs and organizations that help make communities better, stronger, and more vibrant places to live, work, and do business. Adobe partners with employees to direct where Adobe Foundation funds are locally distributed through the Adobe Employee Community Fund. These grants are employee-directed based on local needs and implemented by Corporate Responsibility Action Teams.
Affinity Credit Union (Regional: Saskatchewan)
Affinity gives at least 3% of its pre-tax income to community charities, including those working in the areas of economic development, the environment, youth programming, arts and culture, affordable housing, community building, healthcare, and agriculture.
Air Canada
The company considers requests for donations from organizations working to improve the lives of Canada’s youth as well as those conducting research into diseases. In some cases they make cash donations, in many others they donate promotional tickets.
Allstate Foundation of Canada (National: Markham, ON)
Provides grants to charities and not-for-profit organizations that are involved in a variety of activities and/or educational initiatives around crime prevention, road safety, and home safety.
Allstream (National: Toronto, ON)
Allstream considers sponsorship opportunities in the areas of arts and culture and education. Potential charitable partners must represent organizations that are non-sectarian and non-denominational. They must also share the Allstream commitment to diversity and equal opportunity, ensuring that all segments of society can benefit from programs and services.
Alterna Savings
Alterna commits 2% of their pre-tax profits to the communities they serve. They offer a community grants program, sponsorships, scholarships, and a community micro loan program.
American Express Foundation (National: Markham, ON)
American Express supports nonprofit organizations that are preserving and enriching diverse cultural heritage, developing new leaders for tomorrow, and encouraging community service where its employees and customers live and work.
Assumption Life
Assumption Life gives preference to donation and sponsorship requests from the health sector, focuing their efforts in the area of cancer research.
AstraZeneca Canada
This company focuses their funding on organizations with educational, research, and health promotion initiatives in health-care fields in which the company also has specific expertise. They also support community initiatives in Mississauga, Ontario and St. Laurent, Quebec, where many of their employees live and work.
Atco Electric
Atco assists charities in the communities in which the company operates. Their main areas of focus are community safety, the environment, education, and community projects such as community services, arts and culture, or community infrastructure.

Bell Canada (Regional: Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Quebec)
Committed to helping build healthy, vibrant and safe communities across the region. We create partnerships with organizations that help our youngest citizens reach their full potential and provide them with the resources they need to grow into happy, healthy adults.
Best Buy Canada
Best Buy supports communities across Canada through various initiatives, including the Best in Class fund which provides technology to schools in need. Local Best Buy stores also have individual giving budgets, with the mandate to donate the funds to local, nonprofit, youth-oriented organizations. They also offer a Community Partner Award program which encourages staff to volunteer time to local nonprofit agencies.
BLG Foundation
The BLG Foundation, run by Borden Ladner Gervais, was created to raise funds and coordinate donations to registered Canadian charities in need of support. The majority of donations are made to charitable, educational, cultural, and social initiatives.
BMO Financial Group
BMO welcomes the opportunity to contribute to both large and small organizations across a variety of areas including education, health, arts and culture, civic and community, and sports and athletics. Although support is broadly based, the focus is on assisting organizations and initiatives that encourage and facilitate learning.
Calgary Co-op

Canada Post Foundation for Mental Health
Guided by an independent board, this foundation supports front-line organizations serving patients, consumers, and caregivers while eliminating the stigma of mental illness and raising awareness of how it affects the lives of all Canadians. The foundation receives funds raised by Canada Post and its employees, as well as donations from the public.
Canada Safeway
The Canada Safeway Foundation supports initiatives that feed, protect, and nurture children and families. In addition, the Foundation champions three company-wide causes: breast cancer research, prostate cancer research, and disaster relief in time of crisis.
Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities
Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a community-based charitable program that helps kids in financial need aged 4 -18 participate in organized sports and recreation such as hockey, dance, soccer and swimming so they can develop important life skills, self esteem and confidence. Co-operators (The)
As a financial services organization providing insurance and financial service products, we have a responsibility to support the efforts of charitable organizations in Canada to ensure a safer, healthier and happier environment. In reviewing requests for funding, the following four main criteria are considered: to help a significant number of people; to help people help themselves; to have local Co-operators Board and/or staff involvement and/or support; to have broad community support.
Corus Entertainment
A Canadian-based media and entertainment company, Corus offers assistance in the areas of public benefit, corporate sponsorship, charitable donations, and local fundraising. Established funds relate primarily to the arts and assisting new and upcoming entertainers and producers. Desjardins
Desjardins provides donations, sponsorships, and scholarships in communities across Canada. Desjardins and its network of caisses and subsidiaries support numerous community endeavours that contribute to economic development, health, the environment, community services, education, arts and culture, as well as sports and leisure. Desjardins Insurance Agents
Desjardins Insurance Agents is committed to supporting initiatives that promote safety, excellence in education, and community development. They offer various grant programs for registered Canadian charities in the provinces of Alberta, Ontario and New Brunswick. Celebrate My Drive, Neighbourhood Assist, and the Youth Advisory Board are a few examples of the grant programs they offer.
Devon Canada
Since their inception, Devon Canada’s three signature programs: Investing in People, Science Giants, and Safe and Healthy Communities, have aimed to support and improve organizations in the communities where Devon employees live and work. Devon’s signature grants serve to help community organizations with capacity building and recruitment, innovation and science education, and safe and healthy lifestyles for individuals, youth and families in Devon’s operating areas.
Dofasco
This company funds registered charities and incorporated not-for-profit organizations that focus on any one of these sectors: arts and culture, civic and community, environment and conservation, education, health care, human and social services, and sports and recreation.
EPCOR (Regional: Western Canada)
EPCOR considers participation in community programs that are based in communities where they operate and are focused on life’s essentials: food, water, shelter, safety, energy and education. To receive funding from EPCOR’s Community Investment program, your organization must be a registered nonprofit or charitable organization in good standing with the approving authorities.
The Epicure Foundation™ (National)
The Epicure Foundation™ is committed to promoting food security in Canada. To support this vision, the Epicure Foundation™ runs the Community Initiative National Grant Program, which awards grants of up to $5,000 and in-kind donation packs valued at $250, $500 and $750 to community initiatives across Canada supporting food security.
Fairmont Hotels and Resorts (International: Toronto, ON)
The Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Charitable Donations Program aspires to epitomize “Social Partnership,” by ensuring that relationships are developed and fostered that address broader social issues, allowing an environment of both increasing involvement and increasing benefits to all concerned.
FedEx Canada (National: Mississauga, ON)
FedEx is especially interested in supporting nonprofit organizations that request: 5% or less of a total project budget; contingency grants; or seed monies with the thought that other sources will contribute matching amounts. Fluor’s giving programs focus on community organizations in those locations around the world where the company has a presence. They support organizations working in education, human services, culture, and public affairs.
General Motors of Canada Limited
General Motors of Canada Limited believes that providing support in the communities in which it operates and has a significant employee population is of vital importance. Areas of focus include education, the environment, and civic causes.
George Weston Limited
George Weston Limited and its subsidiaries are committed to improving the quality of life in their local communities, and believe that business should partner with its employees to make a positive contribution to community organizations. Google Grants is an in-kind donation program awarding free AdWords advertising to selected charitable organisations. IA Financial Group

Indigo Love of Reading Fund
The Indigo Love of Reading Fund provides new books and learning materials to high-needs elementary schools, enhancing the literacy and self-esteem of students. Indigo Books & Music Inc. commits more than $1.5 million annually to schools across the country.

Investors Group is committed to supporting grassroots programs that benefit local communities directly and with immediacy. Irving Oil Company – Community Giving Program (Regional: Atlantic Canada)

Through their Daisy Dollars program, Island Farms provides funding to BC nonprofits who collect UPCs (bar codes) from Island Farms products.

Keg Spirit Foundation (National: Richmond, BC)
The foundation concentrates on supporting charities that focus on the development of children and youth. Letters of interest are accepted throughout the year, and grants are expected to be in the amount of $5,000.
KPMG Foundation
In addition to providing grants to post-secondary institutions across Canada, the KPMG Foundation supports a wide variety of activities relating to healthcare, children and youth needs, communities, and the environment, although grants to organizations in other fields are made. They also run an employee matching donation program.
Loblaw
Loblaw provides a number of forms of community investment, including administering the President’s Choice Children’s Charity Foundation. They also offer local store donations and grants, an after school program grant, and a colleague volunteer grant program. The company’s granting priorities include healthy kids, green communities, and the support of local food banks.
Manulife Financial

Maple Lodge Farms Foundation (National: Brampton, ON)

Meridian Credit Union (Regional: Ontario)
Through our Good Neighbour Program, Meridian supports a broad range of events and initiatives that make our neighbourhoods strong, vibrant and inclusive. They support organizations and causes that contribute to local economic development, the social fabric of the community or improving the local environment. They also look for events that engage their employees in the community.
Metropolis at Metrotown (Local: Burnaby, BC)
This shopping centre’s community fund supports nonprofits in Burnaby, New Westminster, and East Vancouver. Funds are raised via the Metropolis Express, a small ride-along train that runs on the main floor of the centre. Rules for applications, as well as application forms, are available online.
Microsoft Canada
Microsoft assists charities, nonprofits, and community groups across the country with support through financial aid, software, services, and volunteer support by its employees.
Miller Thomson Foundation
The purpose of the Miller Thomson Foundation is to encourage and promote the attainment of higher educational goals for individuals who have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement, have made a positive contribution to their school through involvement in extracurricular activities, and have made significant contributions of time and energy to community service programmes.
MLSE Foundation (Regional: Toronto, ON)
Run by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, this is the official foundation of four local sports teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors. The foundation funds projects focusing on at-risk youth in Ontario, including projects that involve hockey, basketball, soccer, or other physical education intiatives, as well as community and social services programs.
Molson Inc.
Molson gives to the community through a variety of initiatives that help build consumer loyalty and establish the Molson presence in large and small communities across Canada. Funding interests include youth leadership, volunteers, education, and sports.
Mountain Equipment Co-Op (MEC)
MEC focuses their community funding and support on wilderness conservation and environmental education; and supporting people in achieving the benefits of self-propelled wilderness-oriented recreation in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. MEC also supports the promotion of cooperative principles and sustainable business practices.
Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation
The Montreal Canadiens Childrenís Foundation provides help and support to children in need. The foundation approves and supports projects that are aimed at underprivileged youth up to 17 years of age and whose objectives are: a healthy lifestyle through regular, physical activity and healthy eating habits and personal development through educational recreational activities.
MTV Staying Alive Foundation (International)
As a global grant-making organization, the foundationís mission is to encourage, energize, and empower young people who are involved in HIV/AIDS awareness, education, and prevention campaigns. They do this by presenting the Staying Alive Awards (with an accompanying grant) to young individuals and youth groups who are focused on stopping the spread of HIV and who have demonstrated the potential to become future leaders.
Nestle Canada
Nestle Canada’s charitable and nonprofit support is directed toward programs and organizations that support healthy active living, with specific emphasis on encouraging physical activity in children, youth, and their families, all in a non-competitive setting.
Nissan Canada Foundation
Dedicated to serving Canadian senior citizens, the foundation helps raise and distribute funds to nonprofit organizations that serve seniors. It also works to raise awareness about the needs and concerns of seniors.
Ontario Power Generation

Formed to fight pet overpopulation, this division of the PetSmart company provides a multitude of resources to animal welfare organizations, including spay/neuter and horse care grants.
President’s Choice Children’s Charity
The President’s Choice Children’s Charity is dedicated to helping children who are physically or developmentally challenged. They help families who have children born with disablities such as Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, and Muscular Dystrophy.
PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada Foundation
Through the Leadership Grants program, the foundation offers grants to existing or emerging charity leaders to support the advancement of their professional development and organizational goals.
RBH Giving Back
As a part of Giving Back, RBH encourages charities focused on education, the environment, or community development to apply for a grant worth up to $25,000. The initiative aligns with sustainable development goals outlined by the United Nations.
Rexall Foundation
The Rexall Foundation supports reputable community and health-based charitable organizations and causes across the country, particularly in the areas of health research, health promotion, disease prevention, and hospital and local health care needs. Funds are raised through store coin boxes and fundraising events such as the annual Rexall Foundation Golf Classic.
Rick and Sue Foundation

UPS Foundation
UPS operations around the world have responsibility for managing grant programs – they identify needs in their communities, find suitable charitable organizations to support, and then recommend those organizations for grants. Grants are typically given to organizations working at the grassroots level.
Walmart Canada
Walmart’s Good Works program offers support to Canadian, focusing on donating and raising money, as well as increasing awareness for Canadian charities and organizations in need. Organizations interested in receiving support from Walmart Canada must email a one page proposal or request, including a short description of the organization.
Westminster Savings
Through their community investment initiative, Project Better Balance, Westminster Savings is committed to helping individuals and families achieve better balance in their lives by providing greater access to arts and active living opportunities in the communities where they live and work. Each Whole Foods store is responsible for community giving within their local area. Not only does each store provide food to local food banks and shelters, but they also hold several “5%” days throughout the year, where 5% of the sales of that day are donated to local groups. Donation request forms are available from each individual store.
