CharityVillage, trusted partner to the Canadian nonprofit sector, is pleased to announce the launch of our next generation crowdfunding platform that will help organizations reach new donors and build a sustainable future. In partnership with Canadian headquartered crowdfunding pioneer FundRazr, CharityVillage is expanding the options for nonprofit organizations and charities to embrace new technology to meet their fundraising goals and attract new donors with engaging virtual campaigns.

“A hallmark of our support for Canadian nonprofits and charities over the past 25 years has been our focus on assisting the sector to integrate new forms of technology to perform their mission work more effectively and efficiently,” Mary Barroll, CharityVillage General Counsel and VP of Media Affairs says, “so developing new virtual fundraising tools for nonprofits is a natural progression of our history”. During our earliest days in 1995, that meant setting up computers to show nonprofit professionals how to use the Internet for both sides of the hiring equation – for employers to recruit qualified professionals on our niche job board and for jobseekers to find meaningful nonprofit opportunities. Over the decades, we’ve pioneered new technology throughout our evolution as Canada’s recruitment platform dedicated exclusively to the nonprofit sector with free webinars, online publications, podcasts and social media and encouraged early adoption of online training by launching 13 e-learning courses for nonprofit professionals, all of which were updated last year. Fast forward to 2020, we’re proud that CharityVillage has helped organizations take their hiring entirely virtual, for safety and efficiency, with our new video interviewing services.

The impact of COVID-19 has accelerated, but not changed, our mission to support the sector in its digital transformation.   We quickly recognized that the need for nonprofit organizations and charities to accelerate their adoption of digital fundraising has only become more pressing. While we continue to be passionately committed to supporting the career needs of nonprofit professionals and assisting organizations with the recruitment of staff and volunteers, we also recognize that the nonprofit sector is facing difficult financial times. As we continue to seek ways to help nonprofits and charities be more operationally efficient and sustainable, offering a fundraising platform is a natural evolution for CharityVillage to continue to bring value to the sector.  “We’re so excited to launch our crowdfunding services for nonprofit organizations to supplement their fundraising activities in an increasingly virtual world as we comply with physical distancing in our united effort to fight the pandemic.  Our crowdfunding platform allows donors to come together to support the important causes that Canadian nonprofits and charities serve, while sharing the impact they make in engaging, inspiring storytelling campaigns with their friends, families, co-workers and social media networks”, Barroll adds.

“We are proud to partner with CharityVillage and share our proven, industry leading fundraising technology with their community of nonprofit organizations and professionals” said Daryl Hatton, FundRazr’s founder and CEO. “What’s particularly exciting is Canadian nonprofits can access the full power of this CharityVillage branded platform with all of its advanced digital fundraising functionality for FREE. Nonprofits work hard to raise money. Our partnership’s innovative business model helps them save money so more can go into powering their mission.”

The new platform allows nonprofit organizations to easily create and launch crowdfunding campaigns including virtual events, peer-to-peer fundraising, DIY (do-it-yourself) fundraising and wishlists.

The crowdfunding campaigns are equipped with everything needed for effective online fundraising: one-click social sharing, secure donation collection via payment processors like PayPal or Stripe, media gallery, activity feed and more. Powerful admin tools help issue tax receipts, track donations, invite team members and send updates to the community.
