Communicating clearly with your clients is the first step in building trust and authentic engagement. Learn how you can use plain language principles to make your message easy for your audience to understand and act on – and to ensure that the public has the information they need to make informed decisions.
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- define plain language and explain how it relates to accessibility and equity
- describe situations in which plain language is essential
- identify problems in wording and design that can make a communication confusing or frustrating
- apply common plain language techniques to make communication easier to understand
Send in a sample or two of your own documents that we can work on during the workshop (like information brochures, instructional materials, annual reports or forms), and come away with concrete tips that you can start using right away to communicate more clearly and succinctly.
