What is GivingTuesday?

Most people know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday…but GivingTuesday will be celebrated on December 1, 2020. It is a Canadian movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Cyber Monday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it is a day where charities, companies and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others.

Giving Back with Crowdfunding

We encourage our community to check out the many organizations and causes using our new crowdfunding services. For organizations looking to get started with crowdfunding, you can start a free campaign in as little as 20 minutes and may want to join our free webinar on December 8 discussing how to use the platform for year-end fundraising at the last minute.

CharityVillage Celebrates #GivingTuesdayCA

It’s hard to believe, but our Villagers have been celebrating GivingTuesday from its very first year back in 2013. It’s an experience our team has enjoyed so much that often they each join in with multiple #UNselfie pictures and their families get involved too!

We’d like to challenge our readers and followers to join the fun by posting your Unselfie pictures on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, tagging us @CharityVillage and using the #GivingTuesdayCA and #unselfie hashtags.

Here are some our Villagers’ #UNselfie pictures for this year’s GivingTuesday to give you a few ideas to get started.

Amanda Dexter, Territory Manager, is giving to Kids Help Phone, to make sure young people have someone to talk to.

Danielle Anderson, Account Manager, is giving back to her local hospital to support health care and frontline workers.

Dave Baran, VP, Business Development, is giving to Autism Canada, to support the Canadian autism community.

Grace Rizzotto, Account Receivable, is supporting a local family in need.

Jane Barr, National Sales Director, is picking up organic fruits and veggies for a senior neighbour.

Julie Slipp, Account Manager, is supporting animals in need at the Ottawa Humane Society.

Marina Dawson, Manager, Community & Content, is donating to the Iqaluit Humane Society in Nunavut to help them build a new shelter.
